Job summary

ST Engineering in Singapore seeks an experienced Project Manager to direct ship repair, construction and conversion projects. You will chair daily VSCC meetings, manage hot-work, painting and incompatible jobs to safeguard personnel and property, and ensure repairs and refits meet schedules and quality standards.

You will monitor project man-hours and costs to protect margins, build strong customer relations, and coordinate with classification societies, ship owners and crew to achieve

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in MS Office and report writing; skilled in project scheduling.

Job description

  • Manage and direct ship repair, construction and conversion projects.
  • Conduct and lead the daily VSCC meetings. Manage all hot-works, painting and incompatible jobs onboard to ensure safety of personnel and property are not endangered.
  • Meet repairs / refit schedules by planning, and closelymonitoring projects’ critical paths.
  • Project man hour monitoring and cost control to ensure intended projectGP margins areachieved.
  • Develop good working relationship with customers and maintaining ateamwork showing high interests.
  • Solve daily conflicts at ground level by monitoring and coordinating sequential and incompatible jobs affecting themaster schedule.
  • Closely liaise with classification societies, ship owners, owner specialist engineers, vessel crew and ship agents to ensure successful completion of the project meeting or exceeding customer’s expectations.
  • Meet commercial / naval contractual commitments and quality of repaired ship.
  • Capture additional works and raise work list and provide information to Commercial Dept for more competitive pricing.
  • Acieve best customer satisfaction without any negative feedbacks from the customer.
  • Active involvement of company smart yard, digitalization, innovation and AI projects.
Requirements:
  • Degree/Diploma in Naval Architecture/Marine/Mechanical Engineering.
  • Min. 5 to 7 years experience in project management for ship repairs in similar capacity from marine / heavy industries.
  • Possess a validSRM Certificate
  • Experience in chairing VSCC meetings.
  • Experience in diverse types of vessels such as Dredgers, Offshore vessels, Containers, Tankers etc.
  • Able to make appropriate decisions and judgments, decisive and take proper actions.
  • Able to lead and manage ship repair, construction and conversion projects independently.
  • Willing to work late at times and during weekends.
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Proficient in report writing and preparing project schedules using MS Projects, Primavera etc
  • Good communication skills when interacting with clients and internal stakeholders
