Job summary

ST Engineering is seeking a project manager for ship repair, construction and conversion projects at the 60 Tuas Road facility. You will lead daily VSCC meetings, ensure safety, and drive schedule, cost control and execution to meet customer expectations.

You will coordinate with classification societies, ship owners and engineers while delivering high-quality results. The role requires leadership, decisive decision-making, and ability to work late when needed.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Naval Architecture, Marine or Mechanical Engineering.
• Min. 1 year experience in project management for ship repairs in marine/heavy industries.
• SRM Certificate is advantageous but not required.

Description

Responsibilities:

• Manage and direct ship repair, construction and conversion projects.
• Conduct and lead the daily VSCC meeting on hot-works and incompatible jobs onboard to ensure safety of personnel and property are not endangered.
• Meet repairs / refit schedules by planning, monitoring projects’ critical path, cost control and execution.
• Develop good working relationship with customers and maintaining teamwork showing high interests.
• Solve daily conflicts at ground level by monitoring and coordinating sequential and incompatible jobs affecting master schedule.
• Closely liaise with classification societies, ship owners, owner specialist engineers, vessel crew and ship agents to ensure successful completion of the project meeting or exceeding customer’s expectations.
• Meet commercial / naval contractual commitments and quality of repaired ship.
• Capture additional works and raise work list and provide information to Commercial Dept for more competitive pricing.

Requirements:

• Degree/Diploma in Naval Architecture/Marine/Mechanical Engineering.
• Min. 1 years experience in project management for ship repairs in similar capacity from marine / heavy industries.
• Possess SRM Certificate will be advantageous but not a must
• Experience in chairing VSCC meetings will be advantageous
• Experienced in project scope covering pipe laying and cables laying will be advantageous
• Able to make appropriate decisions and judgments, decisive and take proper actions
• Able to lead and manage ship repair, construction and conversion projects independently.
• Willing to work late at times and possess leadership qualities.
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Proficient in report writing
