Job summary

DIRECT SEARCH ASIA PTE. LTD. in Singapore seeks a procurement professional to source vessel spare parts, stores, lubricants and services, ensuring timely, cost-effective procurement that meets technical specs and company procedures.

You will evaluate quotations, negotiate pricing with approved vendors, raise purchase orders, and coordinate with Technical Superintendents and vessel teams to confirm requirements. This role supports dry-docking planning and routine maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Maritime Studies, Engineering, Business or a related discipline.
  • Relevant purchasing or procurement experience, preferably within the maritime or shipping industry.
  • Familiarity with vessel spare parts, stores and marine procurement processes would be advantageous.
  • Strong negotiation, coordination and vendor-management skills.
  • Able to manage multiple orders and work within tight operational deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with good communication and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Source, evaluate and procure vessel spare parts, stores, lubricants and services in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Evaluate quotations, negotiate pricing and maintain good relationships with approved vendors.
  • Raise and process purchase orders in accordance with budgetary controls and approval requirements.
  • Liaise closely with Technical Superintendents, vessel personnel and internal stakeholders to confirm procurement requirements.
  • Support procurement planning for dry dockings, repairs and routine vessel maintenance.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders and port agents to arrange timely delivery to vessels.
  • Track shipments, resolve delivery issues and manage documentation for customs and port clearance.
  • Monitor vessel inventory levels to prevent shortages and unnecessary overstocking.
  • Monitor procurement expenditure and obtain the necessary approvals for costs exceeding the approved budget.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and prepare monthly reports.
  • Perform other procurement-related duties assigned by management.
