Job summary

Alexandra Hospital in Singapore is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in distributing medicines safely and efficiently.

You will assist in dispensing, processing orders, inventory control, and contribute to quality improvement while upholding SOPs and patient service standards.

Qualifications

• Possess CPTC or Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science or foreign Pharmacy degree not recognized by Singapore Pharmacy Council.
• Able to communicate effectively and work independently to achieve department goals.
• Able to prioritize and organize work well and adapt to weekend/public holiday shifts.

Responsibilities

• Dispense medicines to patients according to department policies and guidelines.
• Process medication orders.
• Pick, pack and label medicines per SOP.
• Perform medication reconciliation steps: counting, sorting and typing prescriptions.
• Review and intervene for selected drug groups.
• Perform billing functions.
• Provide quality/customer service to patients.
• Provide professional service to all patients/customers.
• Inventory and expiry date management.
• Ensure stocks are stocked properly and FIFO compliant.
• Carry out cycle counts and stock accuracy per SOP.
• Comply with medication safety practices and participate in quality improvement.

Job description

Overview

Perform technical duties under the supervision of pharmacists to ensure safe, efficient and timely distribution of drugs in AH.

Assist the pharmacist in-charge to provide supervision to pharmacy support staff and to coordinate activities within a section to ensure smooth workflow and continuous improvement.

Dispense medicines to the patients according to department policies and guidelines.

Job Responsibilities

• Pharmacy Operational duties
• Perform simple dispensing of medication in accordance with legal requirements and service standards
• Processing medication orders
• Picking, packing and labelling of medicines in accordance to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
• Perform the following medication reconciliation steps: counting, sorting and typing of prescriptions
• Performs simple review and interventions for selected drug groups
• Perform billing functions
• Provision of quality customer service
• Provide professional and courteous service to all patients/customers
• Inventory and Expiry Date Management
• Ensure stocks are stocked up properly and tidily according to FEST-in-First-Out requirement and stipulate storage conditions
• Carry out cycle counts and stock accurately and accordingly to the Standard Operating Procedures
• Comply with medication safety practices in the pharmacy
• Involve in quality improvement projects when required

Requirements

• Possess Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPTC) OR Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science OR foreign Pharmacy degree (not recognized by Singapore Pharmacy Council)
• Have initiative and able to work independently to achieve goals of the department
• Able to communicate effectively
• Able to function effectively as member of a team
• Able to prioritize and organize work well
• Flexibility to work on weekends/ public holidays occasionally

This is a 2-year contract position. Renewal of the contract will be subject to satisfactory performance and vacancy availability.
