Job summary

Farrer Park Hospital in Singapore seeks a Patient Service Officer to manage front desk duties and deliver excellent customer service from admission through discharge. The role includes patient registration, financial counselling, billing, cashiering, and handling insurance claims.

The candidate should have a Diploma or equivalent with healthcare exposure, good English, and strong interpersonal skills, and be able to work shifts including weekends and nights.

Qualifications

• Diploma in any discipline or equivalent; 1–2 years in healthcare preferred.
• Familiar with basic medical terminology.
• Good command of English.
• Customer-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Computer literate and able to work with numbers.
• Able to work in shift arrangements including weekends, public holidays and night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Register patients for outpatient, inpatient and/or surgical day care; prepare admission documents and explain guidelines to patients/next-of-kin.
• Provide financial counselling on hospital bill size estimation based on estimated length of stay.
• Process procedures, verify charges and generate bills for payment.
• Perform cashiering duties and reconcile receipts at end of shift.
• Submit Medisave, Medishield and/or insurance claims and follow up on payment.
• Handle credit control of outstanding balances and refunds.
• Answer inquiries and provide directions, escalating to senior staff as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
