Job summary

Silith, a fabless silicon photonics company, seeks a Patent Specialist to protect core IP and enable freedom to operate in AI and data center markets. You will work closely with R&D engineers, transforming novel photonic device architectures into strategic patent assets.

You will lead invention disclosures, draft filings, manage the IP portfolio, and collaborate with external counsel to ensure robust protection and seamless licensing opportunities.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement IP strategy aligned with business, product, and market goals

• Build, manage, and optimize the organization's IP portfolio (patents, trade secrets, know-how)

• Review and advise on IP-related terms in contracts (ownership, confidentiality, publication rights)
• Establish and improve IP processes, policies, and internal workflows, including training

As a Patent Specialist in our fabless silicon photonics company, you will protect the core IP that differentiates our high-speed optical engines. Working directly with our R&D engineers, you will transform novel photonic device architectures and integration schemes into strategic patent assets, enabling our freedom to operate in the global AI and data center market.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement IP strategy aligned with business, product, and market goals
• Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams to identify and capture new inventions and innovations
• Review invention disclosures and translate technical concepts into patentable ideas
• Build, manage, and optimize the organization's IP portfolio (patents, trade secrets, know-how)
• Lead invention disclosure processes and support internal invention assessments
• Maintain accurate IP records, databases, and filing documentation
• Review and advise on IP-related terms in contracts (ownership, confidentiality, publication rights)

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in EE, Computer Engineering, or related field
• Minimum 3 years of experience in IP/patent management, ideally in semiconductor or electronics industry
• Experience in patent drafting, filing, licensing, technology transfer, IP due diligence
• Experience working with external patent counsel and managing filings
• Able to understand complex engineering concepts (photonics, semiconductor) and translate into patentable inventions
• Knowledge of IP strategy, portfolio development, and competitive landscape analysis
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, legal, business)
• Strong project management, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills
