Job summary

A*STAR RESEARCH ENTITIES in Singapore is seeking a hands-on engineer to support the setup, testing, and evaluation of NDT sensors and sensing systems for industrial inspection. You will conduct laboratory experiments to assess performance, repeatability, reliability, and signal quality, and assist in developing sensor prototypes, test fixtures, and data acquisition setups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
• Hands‑on experience or strong interest in laboratory testing, sensor evaluation, instrumentation, prototyping, or NDT is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of sensors, electronics, measurement systems, data acquisition, or signal processing is advantageous.
• Experience with CAD software, PCB design, embedded systems, or microcontrollers is beneficial but not essential.
• Good analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary research team.

Responsibilities

• Support the setup, testing, characterization, calibration, and evaluation of NDT sensors and sensing systems.
• Conduct laboratory experiments to assess sensor performance, repeatability, reliability, signal quality, and suitability for industrial inspection applications.
• Assist in developing sensor prototypes, test fixtures, experimental platforms, and data acquisition setups.
• Perform NDT experiments on engineering materials and components using ultrasonic, electromagnetic, or related techniques.
• Collect, process, and document experimental data, test results, and technical findings.
• Support troubleshooting, equipment maintenance, procurement, and safe laboratory operations.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure safe laboratory practices.
