A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research is seeking a motivated Research Engineer / Assistant Research Engineer to support R&D activities in non-destructive testing, sensor development, and intelligent inspection systems. You will assist in designing, fabricating, testing, and evaluating advanced sensing technologies for aerospace, manufacturing, energy and transportation sectors.

Qualifications

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics, Physics, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
Hands-on laboratory testing or sensor evaluation experience preferred.
Experience with CAD software, PCB design, embedded systems, or microcontrollers is beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

Support the setup, testing, characterization, calibration, and evaluation of NDT sensors and sensing systems.
Conduct laboratory experiments to assess sensor performance, repeatability, reliability, signal quality, and suitability for industrial inspection applications.
Assist in developing sensor prototypes, test fixtures, experimental platforms, and data acquisition setups.
Perform NDT experiments on engineering materials and components using ultrasonic, electromagnetic, or related techniques.
Collect, process, and document experimental data, test results, and technical findings.
Support troubleshooting, equipment maintenance, procurement, and safe laboratory operations.
Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure safe laboratory practices.
