• Support literature reviews, evidence gathering, and scientific landscape analyses.
• Assist with external expert mapping, stakeholder profiling, and centres of excellence mapping.
• Contribute to planning of medical activities such as advisory boards and medical education initiatives.
• Support early pipeline projects through market landscape assessments and patient journey analyses.
• Assist in development of medical presentations, internal reports, and strategic documents.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand the healthcare ecosystem and unmet patient needs.
• Gain understanding of regional Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical industry.

Job description

The Medical Affairs Intern (Bronchiectasis & Early Pipeline) supports the Medical Affairs team in advancing Boehringer Ingelheim's respiratory and pipeline by contributing to scientific, strategic, and stakeholder engagement initiatives. Working closely with regional and local Medical Affairs colleagues, the intern gains exposure to the development and execution of medical strategies for bronchiectasis and other early-stage pipeline assets, helping to bridge scientific evidence, clinical practice, and patient needs

Job Description

• Support literature reviews, evidence gathering, and scientific landscape analyses in bronchiectasis and respiratory diseases
• Assist with external expert mapping, stakeholder profiling, and identification of centres of excellence across the region
• Contribute to the planning and execution of medical activities such as advisory boards, medical education initiatives, and scientific congress engagements
• Support early pipeline projects through market landscape assessments, patient journey analyses, and insight-generation activities
• Assist in the development of medical presentations, internal reports, and strategic documents to support launch readiness and future medical planning
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Patient Engagement, Market Access, and Commercial colleagues to better understand the healthcare ecosystem and unmet patient needs
• Gain comprehensive understanding of regional Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical industry
• Exposure to bronchiectasis, early pipeline strategy, stakeholder mapping/engagement, scientific communications, and launch readiness activities
• Develop strong scientific, analytical, and cross-functional collaboration skills while contributing to projects that support the future delivery of innovative therapies to patients

Pre-requisite

• Ability to commit full-time from Jan – May/Jun. Part-time applicants will not be considered. International students not intending to take this as a credit-bearing module/ capstone internship need not apply as you will not be able to meet the required time commitment.
• Enrolled in medical, pharmacy, or life sciences program at an accredited university
• Excellent research and analytical skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong interest in pharmaceuticals and respiratory
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
