We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Mould Design Engineering team in Singapore.
In this role, you will be responsible for the design and development of high-precision IC mold tooling, from concept and design proposal through detailed 2D/3D engineering drawings, design review and analysis.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet technical requirements, internal design standards and project timelines, while applying engineering analysis to improve design performance, manufacturability and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop high-precision IC mould tooling, including the preparation of 2D and 3D engineering drawings.
- Develop mould tool design proposals based on project and customer requirements.
- Ensure engineering drawings and design features comply with established design rules, guidelines and engineering standards.
- Review project requirements and work closely with internal stakeholders to obtain the necessary technical and design information.
- Prepare technical documentation and design information required for engineering release.
- Support and participate in engineering/design reviews, highlighting key design considerations, technical risks and proposed solutions.
- Prepare design review materials and clearly communicate technical findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
- Perform CAE and Moldflow analysis, including model generation and first-layer analysis.
- Conduct structural or predictive engineering studies where potential design concerns are identified.
- Analyse simulation results and recommend design modifications to improve performance and address potential technical issues.
- Support risk assessments for design features that fall outside established design guidelines.
- Drive right-first-time design quality while meeting project and drawing-release timelines.
- Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Quality and other cross-functional teams to resolve design and technical issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mould/Die Tooling Design, or a related engineering discipline.
- Approximately 2 years of relevant experience in precision mechanical engineering, tooling design or a related field.
- Experience in mould and die/tooling design would be an advantage.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD design software, such as Solid Edge or SolidWorks.
- Good understanding of precision engineering and mechanical design principles.
- Experience with Moldflow, CAE or engineering simulation/analysis tools would be advantageous.
- Ability to interpret and apply engineering design rules, standards and guidelines.
- Able to work independently with appropriate guidance and manage assigned engineering deliverables.
- Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage internal stakeholders on technical and design matters.
- Strong sense of ownership, attention to detail and commitment to design quality and on-time delivery.
What You'll Work On
You will have the opportunity to work on precision engineering and semiconductor mould tooling applications, combining mechanical design with engineering analysis to solve real-world technical challenges.
The role provides exposure across the design lifecycle — from understanding requirements and developing tooling concepts to detailed design, simulation, technical review and manufacturing support.
