Job summary

Yixin Precision is seeking a Mould Designer in Singapore to design plastic injection moulds and develop 3D mould designs and 2D drawings for fabrication. You will review customer drawings, ensure manufacturability, and work with multiple teams to resolve tooling issues and improve mould performance.

The role requires 3+ years in mould design, proficiency in CAD tools (UG/NX, SolidWorks, Creo), and knowledge of mould construction and GD&T.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tool & Die Engineering, Precision Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in plastic injection mould design or precision tooling.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software such as UG/NEX, SolidWorks, Creo, or equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of injection mould construction, machining processes, moulding processes, and tool steels.
  • Able to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances, and customer specifications.
  • Knowledge of hot runner systems and multi-cavity moulds is an advantage.
  • Experience with high-precision moulds for medical, electronics, automotive, or other demanding applications is an advantage.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with good attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design plastic injection moulds, including mould structures, inserts, cores, cavities, sliders, lifters, cooling systems, and ejection systems.
  • Develop 3D mould designs and detailed 2D drawings for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Review customer part drawings, 3D models, specifications, and technical requirements.
  • Conduct Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews and identify potential moulding or tooling issues.
  • Determine appropriate parting lines, gate locations, runner systems, cooling layouts, and ejection methods.
  • Perform tolerance and dimensional analysis to ensure moulded parts meet customer requirements.
  • Select appropriate mould materials, standard components, and mould construction methods.
  • Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM) and relevant technical documentation.
  • Work closely with Project, Manufacturing, CNC, EDM, Toolroom, Quality and Production teams throughout mould fabrication and qualification.
  • Support mould assembly, testing, troubleshooting, modification, improvement during mould trials.
  • Review trial results and implement design improvements to resolve dimensional, cosmetic, moulding, or tooling issues.
  • Ensure mould designs comply with internal design standards, customer requirements, and project timelines.
  • Maintain proper revision control and design documentation.

Yixin Precision is a vibrant company which was established in 1995 and incorporated as a private company in 2001.
We provide services in mold making, plastic injection molding and assembly process. Mold making includes specialty mold for metal injection molding (MIM) and die casting molds. The end-molded components could be used for disposable medical devices or microfluidics chips.

The Mould Designer is responsible for designing and developing injection moulds according to customer specifications and manufacturing requirements. The role ensures mould designs are practical, reliable, cost-effective, and optimised for manufacturability, quality, and production efficiency.
