JOB DESCRIPTION

'The Product Manager is responsible for managing the assigned product portfolio throughout its lifecycle, from product strategy and market introduction to sales enablement, pricing, profitability, inventory management, and end-of-life planning. The role works closely with sales teams, suppliers, channel partners, marketing, and internal stakeholders to achieve revenue, margin, market-share, and supplier targets.

Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy and Portfolio Management
  • Develop and execute the product strategy and roadmap for the assigned product portfolio, aligned with the company’s commercial objectives and market opportunities.
  • Manage the full product lifecycle, including product introduction, market development, portfolio optimisation, and end-of-life planning.
  • Identify new products, services, and business opportunities based on customer needs, market developments, and emerging technology trends.
  • Evaluate the commercial viability and market potential of new products and solutions before introduction.
  • Monitor product performance and recommend appropriate actions to improve sales, profitability, and market positioning.
Sales Enablement and Business Development
  • Provide strategic product direction and commercial support to the sales team to drive revenue, gross profit, and product adoption.
  • Work closely with the sales team to develop customer propositions, product positioning, and sales strategies for target market segments.
  • Support sales opportunities through product presentations, solution positioning, pricing inputs, and engagement with suppliers or partners.
  • Conduct regular product briefings and training sessions to strengthen the sales team’s product knowledge and selling capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with channel partners to expand market reach and increase market share.
Revenue, Pricing and Profitability
  • Achieve company and supplier targets for the assigned product portfolio, including revenue, margin, volume, and market development objectives.
  • Develop and manage pricing strategies, promotional programmes, and margin guidelines to maintain competitiveness and profitability.
  • Review product pricing and commercial performance regularly, taking into consideration supplier costs, market conditions, and competitive positioning.
  • Negotiate competitive pricing, rebates, incentives, credit arrangements, and commercial terms with suppliers.
  • Track sales performance against targets and implement corrective actions where required.
Supplier and Partner Management
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers, principals, distributors, and strategic partners.
  • Serve as the primary point of coordination for product plans, sales targets, forecasts, marketing programmes, and partner initiatives.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with suppliers and internal stakeholders to assess performance, address gaps, and identify growth opportunities.
  • Maintain strategic alliances with relevant partners to strengthen the company’s product and service offerings.
  • Ensure that supplier programmes, incentives, and marketing development funds are effectively managed and utilised in accordance with the applicable requirements.
Go-to-Market and Marketing
  • Develop and implement go-to-market plans in collaboration with sales, marketing, and other relevant departments.
  • Plan and execute marketing campaigns to increase product awareness, generate demand, and support sales objectives.
  • Organise and manage product launches, trade fairs, customer events, roadshows, seminars, and partner activities.
  • Develop or coordinate product-related marketing materials, including brochures, point-of-purchase materials, electronic direct mailers, presentations, and online content.
  • Measure the effectiveness of marketing initiatives and recommend improvements based on results.
Market and Competitive Analysis
  • Conduct market research to understand customer requirements, competitor activities, pricing trends, and market dynamics.
  • Analyse competitor offerings and recommend appropriate product positioning and differentiation strategies.
  • Keep abreast of industry, technology, and customer developments that may affect the assigned portfolio.
  • Translate market insights into actionable recommendations for product, sales, and business-development strategies.
Inventory and Forecast Management
  • Prepare timely and accurate sales, demand, and inventory forecasts for management and suppliers.
  • Work with relevant internal teams to maintain an appropriate inventory level that supports sales requirements while minimising excess, ageing, and obsolete stock.
  • Monitor inventory movement, product availability, and stock exposure, and recommend actions to address potential risks.
  • Maintain accurate product, pricing, forecast, and performance information for reporting and decision-making.
Reporting and Governance
  • Prepare regular reports on sales performance, profitability, forecasts, inventory, market developments, and key business risks.
  • Maintain proper documentation of supplier agreements, pricing approvals, marketing programmes, and commercial arrangements.
  • Ensure that product-related activities comply with internal policies, approval requirements, and applicable supplier terms.
  • Perform other related duties or projects as assigned.
Job Requirements
Education and Experience
  • Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • At least 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in product management, channel management, business development, sales, or marketing.
  • Experience managing technology products, solutions, suppliers, or channel partners would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing go-to-market plans, managing product performance, and supporting commercial targets.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong commercial acumen, with an understanding of pricing, margins, forecasting, inventory, and profitability.
  • Strong analytical and market-research skills, with the ability to translate information into practical business actions.
  • Effective stakeholder-management and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct product training and communicate product value propositions clearly.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; experience with CRM, ERP, or business-reporting systems would be advantageous.
