The Makerspace Technician is responsible for the day-to-day technical operations of PolyMate's makerspace facility. This includes maintaining and operating FDM 3D printers and laser cutting equipment, ensuring a safe working environment for all users, and providing counter assistance to walk-in customers including material sales and job quotations.
Monitor, operate, and perform first-line maintenance on FDM 3D printers, including filament loading, print monitoring, jam clearance, and failure logging
Operate laser cutting equipment and oversee safe usage by makerspace users
Attend to walk-in customers, assess their requirements, and provide accurate quotations for 3D printing and laser cutting jobs
Process retail sales of filament and consumables
Conduct equipment inductions and enforce makerspace safety protocols
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the facility
Track and report on machine status, consumable stock levels, and job queues
Diploma in any field (Technical fields preferred)
Demonstrated hands-on experience with FDM 3D printing, including familiarity with common failure modes and basic troubleshooting
Prior exposure to laser cutting equipment is advantageous; structured training will be provided
Able to accurately scope and quote print and laser jobs from customer-provided files or specifications
Strong sense of personal accountability and ability to work independently on the floor
Clear and professional communication with customers at a service counter
