Coherent Corp. is seeking an Equipment Technician to join the Equipment Engineering team in a laser manufacturing environment in Singapore.

You will support installation, setup, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment to ensure safety, reliability and uptime. You will work with Equipment Engineers, Process Engineers, Production and other technical teams, performing calibration, adjustments, and documentation, and supporting

Formación

• Diploma or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronics/Precision Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in equipment maintenance in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Laser/photonics/optics or precision manufacturing background is a plus but not required.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read equipment manuals, schematics and work instructions.
• Teamwork, safety, quality and continuous improvement mindset.
• Willing to support production needs, including shift work or overtime when required.

Responsabilidades

• Perform daily equipment checks, preventive and corrective maintenance and repairs.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, sensor, motor and basic control-system issues.
• Support installation, setup, commissioning, qualification, modification and improvement activities.
• Support calibration, adjustment, component replacement and functional verification.
• Monitor equipment performance and identify recurring failures and improvement opportunities.
• Assist with root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions.
• Support continuous improvement to enhance uptime, reliability, productivity and quality.
• Maintain accurate maintenance, repair, equipment history and spare-parts records.
• Follow safety, quality standards and good housekeeping practices.

Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Equipment Technician to join our Equipment Engineering team in a laser manufacturing environment. The Equipment Technician will primarily be responsible for supporting the installation, setup, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment.

The role is critical in ensuring equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently to support production requirements and minimize equipment downtime. While direct laser process engineering is not the primary responsibility of this position, the technician will support equipment used in laser and photonics manufacturing and work closely with Equipment Engineers, Process Engineers, Production, and other technical teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily equipment checks, preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime and production impact.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, sensor, motor, and basic control-system issues.
• Support engineers in equipment installation, setup, commissioning, qualification, modification, and improvement activities.
• Support equipment calibration, Perform adjustment, component replacement, and functional verification.

• Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering and Production teams to support manufacturing requirements.

Laser Manufacturing Support

• Support equipment used in laser, optical, photonics, and precision manufacturing processes.
• Assist with maintenance of laser-related manufacturing stations, precision motion systems, vacuum systems, cooling systems, and optical alignment hardware.
• Perform basic optical or mechanical alignment under engineering guidance.
• Follow applicable laser safety, ESD, cleanroom, contamination-control, and optical-component handling practices.

Qualifications

• Diploma, Higher Nitec/Nitec, or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Precision Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Equipment maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Laser, photonics, optics, semiconductor, or precision manufacturing experience is an advantage but not mandatory.
• Good mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Able to understand equipment manuals, technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
• Strong teamwork, safety, quality, and continuous improvement mindset.
• Willing to support production requirements, including shift work or overtime when required.
