Job summary

Rio Tinto's Commercial team in Singapore is seeking a Principal Advisor - Market Analysis to deliver insights on lithium demand and pricing. You will strengthen analytical frameworks and help shape strategic decisions with robust data and forward-looking forecasts.

You will build global and regional demand models, track short- to medium-term trends, and explore AI-enabled automation to improve reporting and workflow efficiency within a diverse, safety-conscious environment.

Qualifications

• Relevant Degree qualifications.
• 6 years relevant experience within a commodity focused MNC.
• Experience using AI tools and coding to automate data collection, processing and reporting workflows.
• Experience developing automated data pipelines that integrate multiple data sources and reduce manual effort.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate findings to non-technical stakeholders.
• Exposure to trading environment would be an added advantage.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English) are essential.
• Candidates with expertise in applying generative AI to decision-making, market analysis, workflow automation, and productivity enhancement strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Develop global and regional demand models.
• Maintain tracking metrics for short- to medium-term demand over a 0–3 year horizon.
• Maintain a view on current market pricing together with a forecast of short-term movements.
• Monitor industry developments and provide analysis on how various events will impact forecast prices.
• Identify opportunities for AI-enabled workflow improvements and translate business requirements into practical solutions.
