Job summary

SJ Group’s Sustainability & Resilience Office in Singapore seeks a Senior Energy Modeller to lead advanced building energy models, decarbonisation studies, and related simulations for high-performance projects. The role bridges Singapore with regional teams, delivering client-ready insights.

You will mentor junior staff, ensure QA/QC, and collaborate with design teams to translate modelling outputs into actionable design decisions, supporting Green Mark and LEED pathways.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Building Science, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Sustainable Design, Integrated Building Design, or a related discipline.
• Strong experience in building energy modelling and sustainable building design, preferably in consulting with complex non-residential or mixed-use projects.
• Experience with recognised modelling platforms such as IES VE, EnergyPlus, DesignBuilder, OpenStudio, or equivalent.
• Strong capability in geometry/model preparation using Rhino, SketchUp, Revit, or similar.
• Experience interpreting architectural, ACMV/MEP, and construction documentation for simulation inputs and calibration of design assumptions.
• Familiarity with Green Mark, LEED, PRM/code compliance workflows, energy audits, high-performance buildings, zero-energy/zero-carbon studies.
• Ability to perform or guide daylighting, glare, thermal comfort, passive design optimization, and envelope-related sensitivity analysis.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical findings clearly to internal teams and clients.
• Self-driven, quality-focused, and able to work under deadlines across multiple assignments.

Responsibilities

• Lead whole-building energy modelling for design-stage and compliance-stage studies across complex building types and major projects.
• Develop, review, and optimize energy models to support sustainability targets, decarbonisation pathways, high-performance design, and submissions.
• Carry out parametric, sensitivity, and scenario analyses to inform design decisions.
• Support or lead complementary simulations such as daylighting, thermal comfort, and envelope studies.
• Interpret architectural and MEP documentation to ensure modelling inputs are accurate.
• Collaborate with project directors and design teams to translate outputs into actionable recommendations.
• Uphold QA/QC standards to improve delivery speed and reduce risk.
• Serve as a client-facing technical energy modelling specialist in Singapore and the region.
• Mentor junior analysts and build technical capability across teams.
• Coordinate with offshore/GDC resources as needed.
