Job summary

The Health Care Assistant at Singapore General Hospital oversees cleaning of laboratory glassware, benches and rooms, and assists in stocking supplies and packing specimens. The role supports the smooth operation of the laboratory by handling specimens and distributing items.

Responsibilities include collecting specimens from hospitals and clinics, sorting reports to the appropriate departments, operating pneumatic tube systems, and performing basic cleaning and quality checks on equipment.

Qualifications

• Completed PSLE.
• Able to read and understand simple English.
• Able to work staggered hours including weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Clean laboratory glassware and keep benches and rooms clean.
• Assist in stocking supplies and packing specimens.
• Collect laboratory specimens from hospitals, outpatient clinics and private clinics (where applicable).
• Sort and distribute reports to hospitals, clinics, wards and laboratories in SGH Pte Ltd (where applicable).
• Mans and operates the pneumatic tube and vertical transport stations as necessary.
• Distributes cleaned items to the appropriate sections of the laboratory for storage.
• Operates autoclaves and sterilisers as necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Section/Laboratory Supervisor or Head of Section/Laboratory.
