Job summary

Responsibilities

• Assist FCE, NFS and ALP teachers with cookery lessons and practicals.
• Daily maintenance, cleaning and sanitising of two cookery rooms with high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and safety and security.
• Ensure both cookery rooms are cleaned and tidied after every session and prepare rooms and containers in high state of cleanliness and safety.
• Provide updates of perishables and dry goods to teachers ordering for the classes.
• Maintain and update inventories of kitchen equipment and utensils for teachers.
• Filing and compilation of all documents in the cookery rooms.
• Assist in receiving food deliveries from vendors.
• Report facility issues or potential safety risks to the FCE/NFS Coordinator.
• Be on standby during practical sessions to assist FCE/NFS/ALP teachers' requests.
• Check that kitchens are locked and electricity and gas power are turned off after class and end of the day.
• Perform any duties as assigned by the Craft and Tech department or school.

Job description

Job purpose:

To assist the Food and Consumer Education (FCE) and Nutrition and Food Science (NFS) teachers in their daily teaching and learning as well as to provide support for the school’s programmes i.e. Applied Learning Programmes (ALP), GEAR-UP that require cooking practicals or the use of the cookery rooms.

Duties include assisting the FCE, NFS and ALP teachers for the following:

1. (a) Preparation of materials for cookery lessons, practicals, assessments and applied learning programmes.
2. (b) Daily maintenance, cleaning and sanitising of the two cookery rooms with high levels of cleanliness, hygiene and safety and security.
3. (c) Two cookery rooms must be cleaned and tidied after every session. Also to ensure the preparation room and 1 container cabin be in a high state of cleanliness, hygiene and safety and security.
4. (d) Provide update of perishables and dry goods to teachers ordering for the classes.
5. (e) Maintain and update of all inventories of kitchen equipment and utensils to teachers.
6. (f) Filing and compilation of all documents in the cookery rooms.
7. (g) Assist in receiving food from vendors.
8. (h) Report any facility issues or potential safety risks to the FCE/ NFS Coordinator
9. (i) Be on standby during practical session to assist FCE/NFS/ALP Teacher’s requests
