Job summary

WSH Experts Pte Ltd is looking for a Food Lab Assistant to support practical lessons in a school setting. You will help prepare ingredients, place orders for foodstuff, and set up and clean cooking equipment, ensuring the lab operates smoothly and safely.

You will also maintain stock records, assist during teacher absences, supervise students in the food lab, and perform admin duties such as updating notices and assisting in the general office when needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in preparing ingredients before practical lessons.
• Assist in placing orders for foodstuff and ingredients.
• Set up and clean food lab equipment and utensils.
• Replace broken glassware and care for all teaching equipment.
• Maintain stock records in a stock book/excel and breakage log.
• Prepare annual stock inventory for the stock take.
• Maintain and upkeep food lab equipment, including stoves and ovens.
• Ensure the general cleanliness and safety of the food labs.
• Assist in cleaning of other department rooms as required.
• Supervise students in the food lab during teacher absence.
• Ensure deliveries meet orders and update notices using MS Word.
• During holidays, assist with other duties as assigned.
• Assist in the General Office or other areas as needed.
• Any other duties as and when assigned by teachers/HOD.

Job description

Practical Lesson Preparation

• Assist teacher in the preparation of ingredients prior to the start of the practical lessons.
• Assist teacher in placing order for foodstuff and ingredients
• Assist in the setting up and cleaning of food lab equipment and utensils

Stock Check

• Replace broken glassware from stock and be responsible for all equipment used in the teaching of Food & Consumer Education / Nutrition Food Science Practical Lessons.
• Keep a stock book / excel stock sheet and breakage record to indicate necessary replacements
• Prepare an inventory of stocks annually for the annual stock take exercise

Cleaning and Maintenance

• Maintain and upkeep food lab equipment including stoves, ovens and other cooking equipment.
• Responsible for the general cleanliness and safety of the food labs.
• Assist in general cleanliness of other department rooms such as art and music rooms.

Student Supervision

• Supervise students in the food lab during the absence of the teacher (e.g. emergency toilet break)

Admin Duties

• Ensure goods delivered are as per order
• Help to keep notice board up to date (Use Microsoft word to create new signs and labels)
• During School holidays and curriculum downtime, the personnel may be asked to help out with any other duties as and when assigned.
• In the event of downtime during the FCE curriculum, The Food Lab Assistant will be deployed to assist in the General Office or any other areas required.
• Any other duties as and when assigned by the teachers/HOD.
