Job summary

Qualifications

• Secondary education or equivalent qualification required.
• Valid WSQ Food Safety & Hygiene certification required.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in food preparation and cooking.
• Familiar with food safety, hygiene and sanitation practices.

Roles& Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals for residents and employees according to established recipes and guidelines.
• Prepare meals for residents with special dietary or therapeutic requirements.
• Ensure proper storage of food items at appropriate temperatures.
• Ensure food items are correctly labelled and expiry dates are monitored and adhered to.
• Assist in the preparation and timely distribution of meals.
• Support menu planning and meal preparation activities.
• Minimise food wastage through proper portion control and food storage practices.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and food preparation areas.
• Comply with food safety and workplace safety procedures at all times.
• Clean and perform basic maintenance of kitchen equipment, workstations, and utensils.
• Dispose of waste in accordance with hygiene and safety guidelines.
• Provide guidance and support to team members where required.

Requirements

• Secondary education or equivalent qualification.
• Possess a valid WSQ Food Safety & Hygiene certification or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in food preparation and cooking.
• Familiarity with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation practices.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Able to work in a fast-paced setting and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Experience in healthcare, institutional, or large-scale kitchen environments will be an advantage.
