Job summary

ATOP Academy PTE. LTD. in Singapore seeks an enthusiastic JC History teacher to deliver lessons aligned with the MOE JC syllabus and assess students to strengthen content knowledge and exam techniques.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Education, History, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of JC History and MOE curriculum.
• Excellent command of spoken and written English.
• Teaching or tutoring experience is an advantage but not required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging JC History lessons aligned with MOE JC syllabus.
• Assess students and tailor lesson plans to strengthen content knowledge and exam skills.
• Teach key historical events, developments, personalities, and turning points in context.
• Help students understand chronology, cause/effect, change and continuity, significance of developments.
• Develop students' ability to interpret sources, assess reliability, compare perspectives, identify purpose.
• Guide students in answering source-based, structured, and essay questions with evidence.
• Encourage examination of different interpretations and balanced conclusions.
• Mark assignments, monitor progress, and provide timely feedback.
• Prepare students for school assessments and national examinations.
• Develop historical thinking, analytical writing, and reasoning skills.
• Create a positive, engaging, disciplined learning environment.
• Communicate progress with parents professionally.

• Plan and deliver engaging JC History lessons aligned with Singapore MOE JC syllabus.
• Assess students' learning needs and customise lesson plans to strengthen content knowledge and examination skills.
• Teach significant historical events, developments, personalities, and turning points within their respective contexts.
• Help students understand chronology, cause and effect, change and continuity, and the significance of historical developments.
• Develop students' ability to interpret sources, evaluate reliability and utility, compare perspectives, and identify purpose.
• Guide students in answering source-based, structured, and essay questions with relevant evidence and clear arguments.
• Encourage students to examine different historical interpretations and form balanced, evidence-based conclusions.
• Mark assignments, monitor student progress, and provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Prepare students for school assessments and national examinations.
• Develop students' historical awareness, critical thinking, analytical writing, and reasoning skills.
• Create a positive, engaging, and disciplined learning environment.

Requirements

• GCE A-Level, Diploma, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Education, History, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field.
• Good command of spoken and written English.
• Strong historical knowledge and proficiency in source analysis and essay writing.
• Familiarity with the Singapore MOE JC History syllabus and assessment requirements.
• Ability to explain complex historical developments clearly and objectively.
• Passion for teaching and supporting JC school students.
