Qualifications

• Must possess strong historical knowledge and be proficient in source analysis and essay writing.
• Familiarity with the Singapore MOE Secondary History syllabus and assessment requirements.
• Ability to explain complex historical developments clearly and objectively.
• Prior teaching or tutoring experience is an advantage but not required.

• Plan and deliver engaging History lessons aligned with the Singapore MOE secondary syllabus.
• Assess students’ learning needs and customise lesson plans to strengthen content knowledge and examination skills.
• Teach significant historical events, developments, personalities, and turning points within their contexts.
• Help students understand chronology, cause and effect, change and continuity, and the significance of historical developments.
• Develop students’ ability to interpret sources, evaluate reliability, compare perspectives, and identify purpose.
• Guide students in answering source-based, structured, and essay questions with relevant evidence and clear arguments.
• Encourage students to examine different historical interpretations and form balanced, evidence-based conclusions.
• Mark assignments, monitor student progress, and provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Prepare students for school assessments and national examinations.
• Develop students’ historical awareness, critical thinking, analytical writing, and reasoning skills.
• Create a positive, engaging, and disciplined learning environment.
• Communicate professionally with parents regarding students’ academic progress.

Requirements

GCE A-Level, Diploma, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Education, History, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field.

Good command of spoken and written English.

Strong historical knowledge and proficiency in source analysis and essay writing.

Familiarity with the Singapore MOE Secondary History syllabus and assessment requirements.

Ability to explain complex historical developments clearly and objectively.

Passion for teaching and supporting secondary school students.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
