Job summary

ATOP Academy PTE. LTD. in Singapore seeks a dedicated JC Social Studies educator to deliver engaging lessons aligned with the MOE JC syllabus. You will assess learning needs, tailor lessons, and guide students in source interpretation and argument construction.

You will foster critical thinking, civic awareness, and communication while maintaining a positive classroom environment and providing feedback to support student progress through national exams.

Qualifications

• Good command of spoken and written English.
• Strong knowledge of JC Social Studies concepts and contemporary issues.
• Familiarity with Singapore MOE JC Social Studies syllabus and assessment requirements.
• Ability to teach source-based and structured-response answering techniques clearly.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging JC Social Studies lessons aligned with Singapore MOE JC syllabus.
• Assess students’ learning needs and customise lesson plans to address gaps.
• Teach key issues relating to citizenship, governance, diversity, globalisation, and Singapore’s place in an interconnected world.
• Develop students’ ability to interpret sources, evaluate reliability, compare perspectives, and draw well-supported conclusions.
• Guide students in answering source-based case study and structured-response questions effectively.
• Teach students to construct balanced arguments using relevant evidence, examples, and sound reasoning.
• Mark assignments, monitor student progress, and provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Prepare students for school assessments and national examinations.
• Develop students’ critical thinking, civic awareness, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Create a positive, engaging, and disciplined learning environment.
• Communicate professionally with parents regarding JC students’ academic progress.
• Develop teaching resources, case studies, worksheets, and examination-practice materials.
