Job summary

Unison Group in Singapore is seeking a Java/J2EE Application Support Engineer to join the application support team. You will provide L1/L2 support for Java/J2EE enterprise applications and monitor web applications, batch jobs, and system processes.

The role requires hands-on experience with Java/J2EE, Unix/Linux, SQL, and JBOSS/MariaDB, plus the ability to troubleshoot using logs and queries. Night shifts and 24x7 coverage are expected in a shift-based environment.

Qualifications

• 1 year of application support experience.
• Hands-on Java/J2EE development and/or support background.
• Proficient in Unix/Linux commands and SQL data troubleshooting.
• Experience with web applications, batch jobs, and middleware components.

Responsibilities

• Provide L1/L2 application support for Java/J2EE-based enterprise applications.
• Monitor applications, batch jobs, interfaces, and system processes.
• Analyze and troubleshoot issues using Java logs, Unix/Linux commands, and SQL queries.
• Perform incident investigation, root-cause analysis, and resolution within SLAs.
• Support web applications and batch processing environments.
• Coordinate with development, infrastructure, database, middleware, and business teams to resolve production issues.
• Follow ITIL processes and maintain incident/problem documentation.
• Participate in deployments, production releases, and post-release validation.

Job Overview
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Java/J2EE Application Support Engineer to join our application support team. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience in Java/J2EE, Unix/Linux, SQL, web applications, batch processing, and application support. Candidates with development experience who are willing to transition into an application support role are also encouraged to apply.

The role requires strong ownership, troubleshooting skills, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work in a 24×7 shift-based support environment, including night shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide L1/L2 application support for Java/J2EE-based enterprise applications.
• Monitor applications, batch jobs, interfaces, and system processes.
• Analyze and troubleshoot application issues using Java logs, Unix/Linux commands, and SQL queries.
• Perform incident investigation, root‑cause analysis, and resolution within defined SLAs.
• Support web applications and batch processing environments.
• Work with JBOSS application servers, MariaDB/SQL databases, Shell scripts, and related middleware.
• Execute SQL queries for data validation, investigation, and troubleshooting.
• Monitor and support scheduled jobs and batch processes.
• Support MQ setup/configuration and Connect:Direct (C:D) processes where required.
• Coordinate with development, infrastructure, database, middleware, and business teams to resolve production issues.
• Ensure timely communication and escalation of critical incidents.
• Follow ITIL/application support processes and maintain proper incident and problem‑management documentation.
• Participate in application deployments, production releases, and post‑release validation.
• Take ownership of assigned incidents and ensure timely resolution without compromising quality.
• Continuously learn new technologies, applications, and banking processes.

Required Technical Skills

• Hands‑on experience with Java/J2EE applications.
• Minimum 1 year of application support experience; Java developers with strong technical fundamentals and willingness to move into support are also considered.
• Good knowledge of Java/J2EE programming.
• Hands‑on experience with Unix/Linux commands.
• Good understanding of SQL queries and database troubleshooting.
