Job summary

Avensys Consulting Pte. Ltd. is seeking a System Engineer to support and advance the Automatic Fare Collection system. The role covers on-premise and Government on Commercial Cloud environments, with emphasis on reliability, security, and continuous improvement.

Minimum 3 years of system administration experience and Red Linux/Microsoft Cloud certifications are preferred. Excellent team collaboration and communication are essential for success in this contract position based in Singapore.

Qualifications

• Recognised degree with a technical major such as engineering, data communications or computer science.
• System Engineer certification in Red Linux and/or Microsoft including Cloud.
• Minimum 3 years system administration experience.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong technical troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge and experience in Red Linux scripting.

Responsibilities

• Working with a system infrastructure team to support the AFC system.
• Operations, support, maintenance, and R&D to enable continual infrastructure innovation.
• Provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of on‑premise systems and GCC cloud.
• Ensure systems and procedures adhere to organizational standards.
• Accountable for Red Linux, Windows, and middleware like WebSphere components.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Working with a system infrastructure team;
• Responsible for the operations, support, maintenance, research and development to ensure continual innovation of the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system;
• Effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure for on-premise environment and on Government on Commercial Cloud (GCC);
• Participation in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure;
• Ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, volunteers, and Partners; and Accountable for the following systems:
  • Red Linux and Windows;
  • Middleware includes WebSphere Application Servers, WebSphere Message Queue.

REQUIREMENTS

• Recognised degree with a technical major such as engineering, data communications or computer science. Diploma holders with relevant experience and expertise will be considered;
• System Engineer certification in Red Linux and/or Microsoft including Cloud;
• Minimum 3 years system administration experience;
• Good written and verbal communication skills;
• Strong technical troubleshooting skills;
• Able to work well both independently as well as in a team;
• Knowledge and experience in Red Linux scripting; and
• The skills for the following will be considered as an advantage:
  • AWS (Amazon Web Services) and GCC
  • Terraform and Ansible
  • Gitlab
