Job summary

Avensys Consulting Pte. Ltd. in Singapore is seeking an experienced Unix/Linux System Engineer to manage and enhance enterprise Unix/Linux infrastructure.

You will perform system administration, scripting, patching, and security, with hands-on work on RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu, monitoring, and backups. 3–5 years of experience and a CS/IT degree are required; experience with Nagios/Zabbix and Docker/Kubernetes is a plus. Qualifications

• 3–5 years of Unix/Linux system administration experience.
• Strong experience with RHEL, CentOS, and/or Ubuntu.
• Proficiency in Bash and/or Korn shell scripting.
• Good knowledge of file systems, LVM, and RAID.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios or Zabbix.
• Good understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, NFS, and SSH.
• Experience with patching and vulnerability management.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science / IT or related field.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Unix/Linux System Engineer to manage, maintain, and support enterprise Unix/Linux infrastructure. The role involves system administration, troubleshooting, monitoring, patching, automation, and ensuring the availability, performance, and security of critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Unix/Linux servers, including RHEL, CentOS, and Ubuntu.
• Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization.
• Manage patching, updates, vulnerability remediation, and system security.
• Develop and maintain Bash/Korn shell scripts to automate operational tasks.
• Manage file systems, LVM, RAID, backups, and system configurations.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and ensure timely resolution within SLA.
• Support networking services including TCP/IP, DNS, NFS, and SSH.
• Maintain technical documentation, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Support disaster recovery planning and exercises.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams, stakeholders, and project teams on technical initiatives.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members.
• Support implementation of new technologies and identify opportunities for process improvement.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of hands-on Unix/Linux system administration experience.
• Strong experience with RHEL, CentOS, and/or Ubuntu.
• Proficiency in Bash and/or Korn shell scripting.
• Good knowledge of file systems, LVM, and RAID.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, or similar.
• Good understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, NFS, and SSH.
• Experience with patching and vulnerability management.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
