Job summary

Ministry Of Social And Family Development (MSF) is seeking a data governance intern to support the DataSphere team in advancing the ministry's data strategy and capabilities across the organisation.

You will conduct data quality checks, assist with UAT for data marts, and help design data download workflows and governance dashboards. This role emphasizes learning, collaboration, and hands-on experience with SQL, Python, Spark, and Databricks in a government context.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of SQL, Spark or Python programming languages and Git-based collaboration.
• Familiarity with data analytics platforms (e.g., Databricks) and data management tools.
• Strong project management skills and ability to handle multiple stakeholders.

Job description

What the role is:

As part of MSF's Data Governance Office (DGO) DataSphere team, the intern will support initiatives to advance the ministry's data strategy and enhance data capabilities across the organisation.

What you will be working on:

• Conducting data quality and SG/MSF DRM (Data Reference Model) checks on incoming production data across data mart developments, with the goal of building an automated pipeline that allows users to upload datasets, select applicable DRM rules, and generate summary reports on data quality and DRM compliance.
• Assisting with UAT/pre-production testing for existing data mart developments, including writing and executing test cases.
• Supporting the design and testing of data download workflows and governance controls, including enhancing monitoring tables and dashboards to track key metrics such as feature usage, schemas accessed, and support tickets raised.

What we are looking for:

• Have knowledge of SQL, Spark or Python programming languages and Git-based collaboration and version control.
• Familiarity with data analytics platforms (e.g., Databricks or equivalent) and data management tools.
• Have strong project management skills (i.e. able to handle multiple stakeholders and oversee timelines and deadlines).
• Possess good communication and engagement skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Positive attitude towards learning.
