Job summary

Tencent is seeking an HR Compliance Associate to support Singapore-focused regulatory adherence, governance and employee relations across a multi-country APAC region. You will work with HR and Legal to ensure practices meet local laws and internal standards.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in HR/compliance, with strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to policy updates, record-keeping and audit readiness. This role emphasizes confidentiality and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, law, psychology or related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in HR, People Operations, employee relations or employment compliance.
  • Familiarity with Singapore employment legislation and fair employment practices is a strong advantage.
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to handle sensitive situations professionally.
  • Analytical and meticulous with ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Discretion and integrity with confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Support compliance with Singapore Employment Act and MOM regulations; partner with country HR to track regulatory changes.
  • Assist employee relations casework, including intake, documentation, scheduling and follow-up while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Serve as a point of contact for enquiries on employee relations and compliance; liaise with HR, Legal and business partners.
  • Ensure employment documents and HR records meet audit standards and policy requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits and governance activities with evidence collection and remediation tracking.
  • Assist in rolling out HR policies regionally and in adapting local policies to legal requirements.

About the Role

As an HR Compliance Associate supporting our Asia Pacific business, you will help ensure that Tencent's people practices meet local employment legislation, statutory obligations and internal governance standards, with a primary focus on Singapore. Working closely with HR colleagues, business leaders and regional stakeholders, you will support employment compliance, HR governance and employee relations casework across a multi-country region, building deep and practical expertise in employment regulation in one of Asia Pacific's most closely regulated markets.

Responsibilities
  • Support compliance with employment legislation and statutory requirements, with a primary focus on Singapore, including the Employment Act, the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act and Ministry of Manpower regulations; partner with country HR colleagues to track regulatory developments and help translate changes into practical process updates.
  • Support employee relations casework under the guidance of senior HR and Legal colleagues, including case intake and triage, evidence and document collation, interview scheduling and note-taking, timeline construction, case file maintenance and follow-up tracking, exercising strict confidentiality, neutrality and consistency of process throughout.
  • Serve as a point of support for employee relations and employment compliance enquiries escalated from employees, managers and HR Business Partners, facilitating resolution and partnering with the business, HR, Legal and other stakeholders to deliver fair and consistent outcomes.
  • Ensure employment documentation and HR records are audit standard, covering employment contracts, Key Employment Terms, policy acknowledgements, disciplinary and grievance records, personnel files and retention schedules, ensuring records are complete, accurate and defensible under review.
  • Support internal and external audits, labour compliance reviews and HR governance activities by assembling evidence, reconciling records against source systems, tracking remediation actions through to closure and documenting outcomes.
  • Support the periodic review, risk assessment and rollout of HR policies across the region, working with legal advisors to ensure local policies remain aligned to both Tencent global standards and country-specific legal requirements.
  • Build and maintain the employee relations and policy knowledge repository, and support the development of manager training materials on fair employment practices, grievance handling and proper documentation.
  • Identify control gaps and propose practical improvements, including better use of HR case management and workflow systems to reduce manual handling and strengthen compliance tracking.
Who We Look For
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Law, Psychology or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 1-3 years of experience in Human Resources, People Operations, employee relations or employment compliance. Outstanding fresh graduates with relevant internship experience are also encouraged to apply.
  • Familiarity with Singapore employment legislation and fair employment practices is a strong advantage. A genuine interest in employment regulation and the willingness to build real depth in this area is essential.
  • High emotional intelligence and interpersonal maturity, with the ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism, confidentiality and empathy, and to build trust with employees and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
  • Analytical and meticulous, able to conduct precise fact-gathering, maintain accurate records and translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
