Job summary

ByteDance is seeking a network-focused professional to design, build, operate, and optimize its global network spanning backbone, data centers, public cloud, and edge/CDN. You will collaborate with compute, storage, database, and recommendation-system teams to drive innovation and the evolution of the ByteDance network.

The role involves hands-on experience with leading network devices and active participation in an on-call rotation, with occasional travel.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related discipline.
Good understanding of network protocols including TCP/IP, DHCP, BGP, OSPF/IS-IS and MPLS related technologies.
Familiar with data center network architecture such as CLOS and network monitoring protocols/tools (SNMP, Sflow/netflow, Telemetry).
Hands-on experience with major network devices (Cisco, Arista, Juniper, H3C, Huawei) and cross-functional teamwork.
Willingness to participate in on-call rotation and onboarding deadlines.

Responsibilities

Design, build, operate and optimize ByteDance's global network including backbone, data center, public cloud and Edge/CDN.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive network innovation and evolution.
Coordinate with external vendors and ISPs for device and carrier selection, testing and verification.
Travel may be required up to 15% - 30% of the time.
