Job summary

ByteDance Singapore is seeking a Network Operations Engineer to join ByteDance Networking. You will safeguard global network uptime, handling incidents across backbone, data centers, cloud, Edge/CDN, and GWs, while coordinating with a 24/7 NOC and cross-functional teams to restore services quickly.

With 2+ years in network operations, you will apply strong TCP/IP knowledge and collaborative skills to support large-scale infrastructure and cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a related technical field.
• 2+ years of experience in network operations, network support, or network engineering.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, BGP, OSPF/IS-IS and MPLS technologies.

Responsibilities

• Act as a key engineer responsible for ByteDance's global network incident response and operational stability, including backbone, data center, public cloud, Edge/CDN and Network GWs.
• Non-CN global network infrastructure and responder for network incidents and emergencies, leading troubleshooting, mitigation, and service restoration during network failures.
• Partner with the 24*7 NOC team as a second-line (L2) operations engineer across multiple time zones.
• Collaborate with network architecture, deployment, and software engineering teams to improve tooling, monitoring platforms, and automation systems.
• Coordinate with ISPs, vendors, and internal teams to diagnose issues and conduct post-incident RCAs and remediation.
• Support network maintenance and change activities, including operational checks and post-change monitoring.

• Act as a key engineer responsible for ByteDance's global network incident response and operational stability, including backbone, data center, public cloud, Edge/CDN and Network GWs.
• Support the day-to-day operations of the

Non-CN global network infrastructure and responder for network incidents and emergencies, leading troubleshooting, mitigation, and service restoration during network failures.

• Partner with the 24*7 NOC team as a second-line (L2) operations engineer, collaborating with engineers across multiple time zones to ensure continuous 24*7 global network operations.
• Collaborate with network architecture, deployment, and software engineering teams to improve operational tooling, monitoring platforms, and automation systems.
• Coordinate with ISPs, vendors, and internal engineering teams to diagnose and resolve network issues as well as conduct post-incident root cause analysis (RCA) and drive remediation to prevent recurrence.
• Support network maintenance and change activities, including operational checks and post-change monitoring.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years of experience in network operations, network support, or network engineering.
• Good understanding of network protocols including TCP/IP, DHCP, BGP, OSPF/IS-IS and MPLS related technologies.
• Strong sense of ownership with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve network incidents, including timely response during critical outages.
• Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate across global teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in large-scale data center networks, cloud infrastructure, OTT platforms, or ISP environments.
• Experience in incident management, operational process optimization, and network troubleshooting.
• Experience working with network vendors, ISPs, and service providers.
• Familiarity with network automation tools or scripting languages such as Python or Shell.
