Job summary

Singapore Swimming Club is seeking an experienced General Manager who is passionate about people, service and building a strong Club community. Qualifications

  • At least 10 years senior management experience in hospitality or related service sectors.
  • Experience in General Manager or equivalent leadership role.
  • Proven leadership and people management across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong budgeting, financial performance and operations understanding.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management with committees and members.
  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Tourism, Hotel Management, or Business.

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for the Club in line with governance rules.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations and ensure service standards across departments.
  • Manage finances, budgets, facilities, and resources efficiently.
  • Lead Management Team with clear roles and performance goals.

  • Engage members through communications and uphold Club rules.
  • Ensure proper records and regulatory compliance.
  • Undertake special projects and other duties as needed.

Job description

Summary

We are seeking an experienced General Manager who is passionate about people, service and building a strong Club community.

You will lead the overall operations of Singapore Swimming Club and work closely with the Management Team to deliver high service standards, strong business performance and a positive experience for our members and guests. This is a key leadership role for someone with strong hospitality and service experience, sound business judgement and the ability to engage with a diverse group of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
Club Leadership & Governance
  • Provide overall leadership and direction for the Club in accordance with the Club’s Constitution, Rules, Bye-Laws, policies and the directions of the President and Management Committee.
  • Keep the President and Management Committee informed of key matters relating to the management and administration of the Club.
  • Advise the Management Committee on the management, maintenance and future development of the Club.
  • Ensure good corporate governance and compliance with the Code of Ethics and relevant statutory and regulatory requirements.
Operations & Service
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Club and ensure all departments operate smoothly and efficiently.
  • Maintain high standards of service, hospitality and service etiquette across the Club.
  • Ensure the Club's operational objectives are achieved in line with the approved business plan and operating budget.
  • Oversee Club activities, internal competitions, events and visitor activities to ensure they are properly organised and administered.
Financial & Facilities Management
  • Exercise prudent management of the Club’s finances, operations, facilities and resources.
  • Monitor financial and operational performance to ensure the Club operates efficiently and within approved budgets.
  • Ensure the Club’s facilities are properly managed and maintained to support members’ needs and Club operations.
People Leadership
  • Provide strong leadership and guidance to the Management Team.
  • Define clear roles, responsibilities and accountabilities, and establish performance expectations and annual objectives.
  • Build a professional and collaborative working environment across the Club.
Management Committee & Stakeholder Management
  • Work closely with the President, Management Committee and Sub-Committees on matters within their respective areas of responsibility.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with members, employees, government agencies, unions, vendors, suppliers and other stakeholders.
  • Provide timely and relevant information to support Management Committee decision-making.
Member Engagement & Communication
  • Keep members informed of Club activities and relevant developments through appropriate communication channels.
  • Ensure the Club’s Rules and Bye-Laws relating to member and guest conduct, facility usage and access are consistently applied.
  • Maintain a strong focus on member experience and the Club’s position as a Members’ Club of Choice.
Compliance& Administration
  • Ensure proper records of Management Committee meetings and decisions are maintained.
  • Ensure compliance with Registry of Societies requirements and other applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure key Club matters are properly documented and administered.
General
  • Undertake special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned by the President or Management Committee from time to time.
  • Carry out other duties as required to support the effective management and operation of the Club.
Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality, Tourism, Hotel Management, Business Management or a related discipline.
  • At least 10 years of senior management experience, ideally including a General Manager role or comparable leadership position within hospitality, hotels, resorts, country clubs, private members' clubs or other service-oriented organisations.
  • Proven leadership and people management skills, with experience guiding senior managers and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Sound business and commercial acumen, with a good grasp of budgeting, financial performance and operational management.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, and the confidence to work with the Management Committee, members, employees and external stakeholders.
