Job summary

WSH Experts Pte Ltd in Singapore seeks a diligent Kitchen/Facilities Assistant to support the NFS Department. You will prepare ingredients for practical lessons, maintain labs and refrigerators, and ensure a clean, safe work environment.

You will also handle stock checks, receive deliveries, coordinate with grocers for substitutions, assist in food ordering for projects and exams, and report to FCE teachers as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and portion ingredients for NFS practical lessons.
• Store food ingredients according to food safety standards.
• Maintain and clear refrigerators, dispose of rubbish and keep food labs tidy.
• Ensure main gas supply is turned off at the end of the day.
• Perform stock-taking of consumables and assist in inventory checks.
• Assist in food preparation for projects such as Talent Development or Teachers’ Day.
• Assist in food ordering and receiving deliveries for NFS lessons and exams.
• Coordinate with suppliers and grocers for substitutions or replacements of ingredients.
• Record leftovers and advise teachers if ingredients are insufficient.
• Ensure lab equipment and cutlery are in place and ready for use.

The Services required are set out as follows:

• Cutting and preparing specific portions of ingredients and distributing them according to the recipe given by teachers before the start of all NFS practical lessons.
• Store food ingredients accordingly to food safety standards.
• Maintenance of refrigerator which includes clearing of food.
• Clearing of unwanted packaging, boxes or items to be disposed of.
• Maintenance of tidiness of Food Labs.
• After lessons, check all cookers are off and rubbish is disposed of.
• Check that main gas supply is turned off at the end of the day.
• Clear the centre store table.
• Washing of rags using the washer/dryer machine.
• Perform inventory checks in NFS Food Lab and Work Room.
• Ensure Food Labs are arranged in order after practical lessons.
• Assist in food preparation for projects under the NFS Department, e.g. Talent Development, Teachers’ Day, competitions, etc.
• Assist in food ordering for all NFS practical lessons and NFS practical examinations.
• Receive the food orders delivered. Store the ingredients appropriately in the labs.
• Contacting the grocer whenever the food orders delivered has missing items or the ingredients are not fresh. To request for an exchange or replacement of ingredients, if needed.
• Fill up the soaps, check that the cutlery and equipments are in place.
• Note leftovers to carry forward and advise teachers should there be insufficient ingredients for preparation of lessons. Perform stock-taking duties of consumables such as detergents, soaps and sponges.
• Any other duties assigned by FCE teachers.
