Job summary

The NFS Food Laboratory Assistant supports the daily operations, cleanliness, safety and organisation of the Food Laboratories and preparation areas.

Key responsibilities include cleaning and sanitising labs, managing deliveries and supplies, stocking and storing equipment, and assisting during practical lessons while ensuring FIFO storage practices are followed.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and sanitising kitchens, workrooms, tables, sinks, cookers, ovens, grills, floors and other work areas
• Managing kitchen linen and waste disposal
• Checking and replenishing cleaning supplies
• Receiving and organising food deliveries
• Ensuring utensils, cutlery and equipment are complete and properly stored
• Preparing ingredients and equipment according to teachers' instructions
• Providing operational support during practical lessons, ensuring food is stored safely using FIFO

The Services required are set out as follows:

The NFS Food Laboratory Assistant supports the daily operations, cleanliness, safety and organisation of the Food Laboratories and preparation areas.

Key responsibilities include but limit to the following:

• School Days
  • cleaning and sanitising kitchens, workrooms, tables, sinks, cookers, ovens, grills, floors and other work areas;
  • managing kitchen linen and waste disposal;
  • checking and replenishing cleaning supplies;
  • receiving and organising food deliveries;
  • ensuring utensils, cutlery and equipment are complete and properly stored;
  • prepares ingredients and equipment according to teachers' instructions;
  • provides operational support during practical lessons, and ensures food is stored safely using the First In First Out principle.
• School Holidays
  • A. Food Laboratories
    • thorough cleaning and sanitisation of the Food Labs;
    • clearing expired or unwanted food;
    • stocktaking of equipment and dry ingredients;
    • checking expiry dates and quantities, updating stock records;
    • cleaning storage areas and presentation ware;
    • replacing drawer linings and tablecloths;
    • preparing the Food Labs for the new school term.
  • B. Non - Food Laboratories
    • assist OM with OSO duties
