The role supports laboratory operations, food safety, and practical lessons, with precise sanitation and inventory duties. The position runs under a fixed-term contract with school term alignments. The ideal candidate has secondary school experience in nutrition/food science labs and basic computer skills (Word/Excel/email).

Qualifications

• Experience as a Nutrition and Food Science Food Laboratory Assistant in a secondary school.
• WSQ Food Safety Course Level 1 and GCE N-Level or equivalent.
• Preferred: clear communication, safe food handling and storage, care of utensils and kitchen equipment, and safe use of cleaning equipment and agents.
• Preferred: ability to follow instructions, assist with basic food preparation and use Microsoft Word, Excel and email.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitise food laboratories, workrooms, cookers, ovens and other work areas.
• Manage linen and waste, and replenish cleaning supplies.
• Receive deliveries, organise ingredients using first-in, first-out storage and check that utensils and equipment are complete and properly stored.
• Prepare ingredients and equipment as directed by teachers and assist during practical lessons.
• During school holidays within the service period, deep-clean the laboratories, remove expired food, check equipment and ingredient stocks, and update records.

Job position: NFS Food Laboratory Assistant

Salary: SGD 2,100-2,500 per month

Name of Authority: Zhonghua Secondary School

Contract Period: 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2028. Service runs from 1 January to 30 September in each year.

Option period: 1 January to 31 December 2029. Service runs from 1 January to 30 September 2029.

Working hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:00am to 4:00pm. Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm. Lunch timing varies with the timetable and is agreed at the start of each term or when the timetable changes. Weekends and gazetted public holidays are off.
