Job summary

PETRA, part of Mission Group, seeks a Floor Supervisor with wine knowledge to lead service and elevate guest experiences. You will guide the team on the floor and support our wine programme, collaborating with the Assistant Manager/Sommelier.

Ideal candidates bring 2–3 years in restaurant service (Captain viewpoint), strong leadership, and a passion for wine, with flexibility for evenings and holidays. Join a growing hospitality group and contribute to an exciting opening months.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years in restaurant service, including at least 1 year as Captain or Supervisor.
• Good wine knowledge: regions, grapes, styles and food pairing.
• WSET Level 1/2 or CMS Introductory certification is an advantage; we support progression.
• Confident and personable with strong leadership and communication skills.
• Experience in premium or wine-focused dining is an advantage.
• Pre-opening experience is an advantage.
• Valid WSQ Food Safety Course Level 1.
• Able to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Lead service on the floor, setting the tone for warm hospitality.
• Brief the team, assign sections and manage service flow.
• Train and support service staff on the job.
• Handle guest feedback and resolve issues promptly.
• Support opening/closing, cash handling, POS checks and daily reports.
• Uphold service, grooming, food safety and responsible alcohol service standards.
• Recommend wines and pairings, present, open, decant and serve wine.
• Support the sommelier with cellar organisation and stock counts.
• Help train staff on wine basics and the wine list.
