Job summary

Unchain Data in Singapore is seeking a Data Analyst Intern to support the data team with finance reporting, reconciliation and validation on production data. You’ll work on reconciling figures, investigating discrepancies, and turning manual checks into automated processes.

Day to day you will write SQL and some Python to pull, compare and validate financial data, build dashboards, and document what datasets mean to help non-technical teammates interpret results.

Qualifications

• No professional experience needed; we care about how you think and how carefully you work.
• Currently studying, or recently graduated, in a numerate field — data, statistics, finance, accounting, computer science, engineering or similar.
• SQL — you've written queries with joins and aggregations, and you can read someone else's.
• Some Python, for analysis or automation.
• You're careful with numbers and check your output before sharing.
• You're comfortable saying 'I don't know' and asking why a number is what it is.
• Clear written communication for explaining discrepancies to non-technical colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Check that our numbers are correct: reconcile figures against independent sources and explain differences.
• Investigate when a report looks wrong and determine if it is actually incorrect.
• Trace a number back to its source.
• Automate manual checks to run on a schedule using SQL and Python.
• Build and maintain dashboards to monitor financial performance and document dataset meanings.
