Job summary

PRIMESTAFF MANAGEMENT SERVICES PTE LTD is seeking a hands-on Facilities Technician to support daily operation and maintenance of a nursing home. You will be the first point of contact for facilities-related issues at the site and perform minor repairs.

You should have practical M&E and ACMV troubleshooting experience, capable of identifying fault causes, performing safe first-line rectification and knowing when to engage specialists. Report to Facilities Manager and follow safety procedures.

Qualifications

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Facilities Technician to support the daily operation and maintenance of a nursing home.

You will be the first point of contact for facilities-related issues at your assigned site. This role requires someone who can personally inspect, troubleshoot and carry out minor repairs instead of relying entirely on external vendors.

You do not need to be a specialist in every building system. However, you should have practical M&E and ACMV troubleshooting experience and be able to identify the likely cause of a fault, perform safe first-line rectification and determine when a specialist vendor is required.

You will report to the Facilities Manager and follow the organisation's established facilities and safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Attend to facilities faults, breakdowns and maintenance requests at the assigned nursing home.
• Perform first-line troubleshooting of M&E, electrical and ACMV systems.
• Carry out safe minor repairs involving lighting, switches, sockets and other general electrical fittings within your competency.
• Inspect and troubleshoot air-conditioning systems, pumps, ventilation equipment and related mechanical systems.
• Attend to common plumbing defects, leaks, sanitary fittings and minor building-related repairs.
• Carry out minor painting, touch-up and general building-maintenance works.
• Perform first-line checks on resident beds, PA systems, kitchen equipment and other operational equipment.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventive-maintenance checks.
• Support fire-safety inspections, fire drills and fire-certificate renewal activities.
• Identify and engage the appropriate specialist vendor when a fault cannot be safely resolved internally.
• Coordinate vendors for servicing, major repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Record, update and close maintenance requests using CMMS or digital work-order systems.
• Maintain proper maintenance, repair and inspection records.
• Support purchase requisitions, quotation collation and basic facilities reports.
• Respond promptly to urgent issues while minimising disruption to residents and caregivers.

Requirements

• NITEC, Higher NITEC or Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Facilities Management, Building Services or a related discipline.
• At least 1-2 years of hands-on experience in building maintenance, M&E, ACMV or facilities operations.
• Practical experience diagnosing faults and carrying out first-line troubleshooting or minor repairs.
• Able to work independently and determine when specialist vendor assistance is required.
• Comfortable performing physical site duties, including accessing plant rooms, using ladders where required and moving around the facility to attend to faults.
• Comfortable using CMMS, facilities-management systems or digital work-order applications.
• Able to communicate clearly with the Facilities Manager, site users and external vendors.
• Able to respond to urgent or after-hours facilities matters.

Advantageous but Not Mandatory

• Experience in nursing homes, hospitals or other healthcare facilities.
• Experience supporting commercial buildings, office towers, banks, hotels, shopping malls or institutional facilities.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Power Apps or similar digital facilities platforms.

Weekend Standby

Weekend standby is required. Where possible, issues may be supported remotely. Site attendance will be required when an urgent problem cannot be resolved remotely. Off-in-lieu or other compensation will be provided in accordance with the organisation's policy and applicable statutory requirements.
