Role Overview
We are looking for a dependable and hands-on F&B Chef to support daily kitchen operations and food preparation for multiple outlets.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking menu items, carrying out ingredient preparation, maintaining food quality and hygiene standards, and ensuring that kitchen operations run smoothly throughout each shift.
This role is suitable for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, takes pride in producing consistent food quality, and works well as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes, portion sizes and preparation standards.
- Support food preparation for different outlets based on daily operational requirements.
- Perform pre-cooking preparation, including washing, cutting, portioning, sorting and preparing ingredients.
- Ensure food is prepared consistently in terms of quality, taste, portioning and presentation.
- Follow proper food handling, storage, temperature control and kitchen hygiene procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workstations, equipment and food preparation areas.
- Ensure raw ingredients and prepared food are stored appropriately to minimise contamination and food wastage.
- Assist with receiving, checking, organising and rotating ingredients and kitchen supplies.
- Monitor ingredient availability and inform the relevant team members when replenishment is required.
- Work closely with other kitchen team members to ensure efficient food preparation and timely completion of orders.
- Follow kitchen Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), food safety requirements and workplace safety practices.
- Perform opening and closing procedures according to established kitchen requirements.
- Maintain a courteous, professional and cooperative attitude when working with colleagues and other operational teams.
- Carry out other kitchen duties as required to support day-to-day operations.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Chef, Cook, Kitchen Assistant or similar F&B kitchen role is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
- Possess a valid WSQ Food Safety Course (FSC) Level 1 certification, or be willing to obtain the required certification before undertaking food-handling duties. SFA requires food handlers to undergo the applicable food-safety training.
- Good understanding of food hygiene, sanitation and safe food-handling practices.
- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Comfortable with physically demanding kitchen duties, including standing for extended periods and handling ingredients and kitchen supplies.
- Able to work a 6-day work week and rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays where required.
- Able to communicate effectively with colleagues and follow kitchen instructions accurately.
- Responsible, punctual and able to work well independently as well as within a team.
