Job summary

Duke-NUS Medical School is seeking an Executive (Sponsored Research) to manage external research funding and oversee pre- and post-award administration in line with funder requirements and university policies.

The role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work well in teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences or related field.
  • Experience in research administration or academic environment is advantageous.
  • Proactive with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Meticulous, well-organised and able to multi-task.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, such as Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Manage external research funding awarded to Duke-NUS, ensuring governance and support the School’s competitiveness in securing grants.
  • Oversee pre- and post-award administration for research grants and agreements in compliance with funder requirements and University policies.
  • Provide information to faculty and research staff on funding opportunities and grant calls.
  • Review grant applications for completeness and facilitate timely submissions.
  • Create and activate project accounts.
  • Verify manpower recruitment and transfers for grant-funded positions.
  • Manage grant variations, extensions and other change requests.
  • Ensure timely submission of progress and final reports, and support proper project closeout.
  • Develop and implement robust work processes, SOPs, and guidelines for efficient grant administration.
  • Liaise with external funders and internal departments on grant-related matters, ensuring smooth coordination and issue resolution.
  • Undertake cross-departmental tasks and projects under the Office of Research
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
