Job summary

Hilton Singapore Orchard is seeking an Assistant Chief Engineer to support the Chief Engineer in safe, reliable operation of all hotel facilities. The role leads the engineering team, drives operational excellence, and aligns with Hilton’s service standards.

You will oversee preventive and corrective maintenance, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, and mentor engineers in advanced building systems. The position is based at Hilton Singapore Orchard with on-site responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Professional qualification in engineering/building maintenance.
• 5+ years in Engineer/Engineering Manager or 2+ years as Assistant Chief Engineer in a full-service hotel.
• Specialized knowledge on water treatment, hydraulics, mechanics, chillers, air flows, HVAC, LV, electronics, sound, TV, lighting, elevators, boilers, pumps.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and motivate the Engineering team to achieve high performance and operational excellence.
• Develop team capability through training, coaching and mentoring.
• Conduct performance evaluations and identify succession opportunities.
• Prepare team members for advancement into higher-level roles.
• Promote teamwork, accountability and a positive working culture.
• Support recruitment, onboarding and retention of engineering staff in partnership with HR and Chief Engineer.
• Manage team relations, disciplinary issues and counselling as needed.
• Monitor productivity, attendance and compliance with policies.
• Ensure effective manpower deployment and provide support during shortages.
• Lead the Engineering team during emergencies and outages to restore operations safely.
• Foster collaboration with hotel departments and maintain open communication with the Chief Engineer.
