About This Role

HDR is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our Singapore Building Engineering Services (BES) team. The position will focus on projects across a range of markets, primarily the Mission Critical sector.

Responsibilities

• Design, manage and supervise projects, establish client brief, technical requirements, scope of work, cost plans and agree deliverables (report, specifications, drawings) for all projects with your Group Leader.
• Agree level of service and project design duties with your Group Leader for each project, understanding the relationship with the fee.
• Assist Group Leader with monitoring engineering/CAD resource requirements for each project within your control.
• Carry out engineering concept design to detailed design, participate in the tender and contract process, review contractor submissions, and ensure projects are undertaken in accordance with design briefs.
• Liaise with the contractor/PM team to produce coordinated designs that are technically compliant, of consistent quality and standard. Provide positive contributions to design/project meetings and maintain regular in‑house design reviews and checks.
• Undertake technical reviews of the project (and MEP team input provided to other projects) at appropriate stages to ensure that the project approach and deliverables are on target.
• Monitor and control design progress and design variations.
• Monitor contract staff or third‑party appointments.
• Maintain excellent client and design team relationships to achieve high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.
• When acting as design team leader, coordinate with other project disciplines.
• Assist Group Leader with identifying and implementing personal training/CPD requirements and help develop working practices within the company.
• Implement and manage filing systems and procedures on all projects.
• Implement Company Health and Safety policies; ensure all designs comply with local regulations.
• Assist Professional Engineer in liaison, preparation and follow‑up of authority submissions.
• Work closely with clients, architects, structural engineers, quantity surveyors and other stakeholders.
• Assist Project Manager in maintaining project ISO quality documentation and records.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Minimum 5–8 years of hands‑on electrical design experience in data centre, mixed‑development building, or infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with local code and authority submission procedures.
• Team player able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Mission‑Critical or data centre design experience is an added advantage.
• Experience with BIM is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of consulting experience and successful project management in the MEP sector is an added advantage.
• Strong interpersonal skills and appreciation for teamwork.
• Singaporean citizenship or Permanent Resident status.
