The Role
Mechanical Engineer – Singapore Building Engineering Services (BES) team. Project work across multiple markets, primarily the Mission Critical sector.
Responsibilities
- Undertake mechanical design deliverables, including calculations, reports, design, and technical documentation.
- Define level of service and project design duties with Group Leader; understand fee relationship.
- Assist Group Leader in monitoring engineering/CAD resource requirements per project.
- Progress engineering from concept to detailed design, participate in tender and contract process, review contractor submissions, and ensure compliance with design briefs.
- Liaise with contractor/PM team to produce coordinated designs that meet technical and quality standards; contribute to design/project meetings; conduct internal design reviews and checks.
- Monitor and control design progress and variations.
- Oversee contract staff or third‑party appointments.
- Maintain client and design team relationships to achieve high satisfaction and repeat business.
- When acting as design team leader, coordinate with other project disciplines.
- Assist Group Leader with personal training/CPD planning and support development of working practices.
- Manage filing systems and procedures on all projects.
- Implement company Health & Safety and ensure all designs comply with local regulations.
- Assist Professional Engineer with authority submission preparation and follow‑up.
- Collaborate with clients, architects, structural engineers, quantity surveyors, etc.
- Assist Project Manager in maintaining ISO quality documentation and records.
- Senior engineers must lead projects and supervise a team of engineers/technicians.
- Perform technical reviews of the project to ensure approach and deliverables meet expectations.
- Satisfy the client's brief and expectations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Knowledge of local code and authority submission procedures.
- Working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines.
- Commitment to continuous professional development for self and team.
- Experience in Mission Critical Design / Data Centre Design (advantage).
- Experience with BIM (advantage).
- Consulting and project management experience in the MEP sector (advantage).
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Singaporean or Permanent Resident status.
