Job summary

Makino Asia Group in Singapore is seeking a Mechanical Engineer (EDM) to design, develop, test, and validate mechanical systems for EDM machines, ensuring high performance and safety.

You will work closely with electrical, software, manufacturing, and application engineering teams across prototype, integration, and commissioning activities, and you will document designs and ensure compliance with QEHS standards while supporting continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, precision machinery, and motion control.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
• Good teamwork and communication in a cross-functional environment.
• Willingness to travel for on-site customer support, machine commissioning, and service activities when required.
• Customer-focused mindset with an interest in high-precision manufacturing and machine tool technologies.
• Prior experience or exposure to machine tools, EDM machines, or related industries will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and evaluate mechanical systems for EDM machines, including motion drive systems, machine structures and mechanisms, as well as pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Support prototype assembly, system integration, commissioning, and testing activities during the product development phase.
• Analyze test results and implement design improvements or corrective actions to enhance machine performance, reliability, stability, and manufacturability.
• Collaborate closely with electrical, software, manufacturing, and application engineering teams to resolve technical issues and support cross-functional projects.
• Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including mechanical drawings, engineering specifications, test reports, design change records, and technical documents.
• Ensure compliance with Makino's quality standards, engineering processes, and QEHS requirements.
• Provide technical and engineering support to manufacturing, service, and customer support teams when required.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, operational efficiency, and engineering processes.
