Job summary

FASTSTREAM RECRUITMENT PTE. LTD. is seeking a Distillates Operator in Singapore to oversee physical cargo operations across the voyage cycle in a fast-paced, international trading environment.

You will work closely with traders and counterparties across the supply chain, focusing on middle distillates such as jet and gas oil, while ensuring HSSE compliance and accurate post-fixture activities.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of relevant oil or commodities operations experience.
• Strong experience in physical middle distillates, particularly jet and/or gas oil.
• Good understanding of physical oil cargo movements, vessel operations and end-to-end execution.
• Comfortable working directly with traders and a broad range of external stakeholders.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to identify operational risks and resolve issues.
• Knowledge of shipping documentation, laytime, demurrage, claims and reconciliation processes.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Highly organised with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage physical cargo movements from nomination and scheduling through loading, discharge and close-out.
• Monitor vessel schedules and cargo movements, identify and resolve operational issues.
• Maintain regular communication with traders, charterers, counterparties, terminals, owners, agents and surveyors.
• Coordinate operational documentation, invoicing, reconciliations and post-fixture requirements.
• Manage laytime, demurrage and claims, and investigate discrepancies.
• Support inventory, storage and blending activities related to the physical trade.
• Ensure activities align with HSSE requirements, sanctions controls and risk policies.

Are you an experienced Oil Operations professional with exposure to middle distillates and looking to take the next step in your career within a fast-paced international trading environment?

Our client is a leading global trading house with an established presence across the energy and commodities markets and is looking for a Distillates Operator to join their team in Singapore. This role will suit a commercially minded and hands-on operator who understands the physical movement of oil cargoes and is comfortable working closely with traders and counterparties to ensure smooth execution.

You will take ownership of physical cargo operations across the full voyage cycle, working closely with traders, charterers, terminals, shipowners, agents and other stakeholders. The role provides broad exposure to international oil movements, with a particular focus on middle distillates including jet and gas oil, alongside fuel oil.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage physical cargo movements from initial nomination and scheduling through to loading, discharge and final close-out.
• Monitor vessel schedules and cargo movements closely, proactively identifying and resolving operational issues that may impact execution.
• Maintain regular communication with traders, charterers, counterparties, terminals, owners, agents, surveyors and other relevant parties.
• Coordinate operational documentation, invoicing, reconciliations and other post-fixture requirements to ensure accurate and timely completion.
• Manage laytime, demurrage and claims matters, working with relevant stakeholders to investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• Support the management of inventory, storage and blending activities where applicable to the physical trade.
• Ensure operational activities are carried out in line with HSSE requirements, sanctions controls and internal risk policies.

Requirements:

• 5–8 years of relevant oil or commodities operations experience, preferably within a trading house, oil major or international energy company.
• Strong experience in physical middle distillates, particularly jet and/or gas oil; exposure to fuel oil would be advantageous.
• Good understanding of physical oil cargo movements, vessel operations and the end-to-end execution process.
• Comfortable working directly with traders and a broad range of external stakeholders across the physical supply chain.
• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to understand how cargoes move, identify operational risks and follow issues through to resolution.
• Good knowledge of shipping documentation, laytime, demurrage, claims and reconciliation processes.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach.
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple cargoes and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• A good understanding of HSSE, sanctions and risk controls relevant to physical commodity trading.
