Job summary

SHEIN is seeking a Director/Senior Director of Government Relations to lead policy and regulatory engagement across EMEA from Brussels, London, Paris, or Singapore. You will shape public policy positions, build influential networks, and drive strategic stakeholder collaborations to support SHEIN’s market access and growth.

You will collaborate with Marketing, Legal, Compliance, ESG, and other teams to advocate company positions and translate policy initiatives into tangible commercial outcomes.

Qualifications

• Degree in a relevant field and 15+ years of government relations or public policy experience.
• Experience building and leveraging political/policy networks across the EU, especially Brussels.
• Strong analytical, presentation, and project management skills.
• Ability to translate policy engagements into commercial outcomes and drive advocacy.

Responsibilities

• Assess strategic/policy issues and their implications for SHEIN's commercial interests in EMEA.
• Provide recommendations to senior management on political, policy and regulatory issues.
• Identify and engage key policy stakeholders across political offices, regulators, and industry groups.
• Develop and drive stakeholder engagement strategies to strengthen SHEIN’s partnerships in EMEA.
• Formulate advocacy plans to secure market access and expansion in EMEA.

About the Role

• Responsible for providing assessment of relevant public policies and their implications to SHEIN’s business interests in EMEA.
• Report to Global Head of Public Affairs and work with other SHEIN departments to manage and develop the company’s public policy positions in EMEA and contribute to shaping of overall positions.
• Collaborate with relevant SHEIN departments to develop and drive stakeholder engagement strategies, including developing strong relationships with key stakeholders and managing policy engagements in EMEA.
• Responsible for fostering strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, including implementation of local projects and initiatives, and translating stakeholder and policy engagements into tangible commercial outcomes to advance SHEIN’s market access and expansion efforts in EMEA.
• Plan, organize and manage SHEIN’s various stakeholder engagement platforms in EMEA, in support of the objective to expand and enhance our collaborations with key stakeholders from various backgrounds such as political/regulatory stakeholders, civil society, industry associations and other public arenas.
• Effectively work with various teams globally, such as SHEIN’s Marketing, Logistics, Legal, Compliance, PR and ESG teams to represent and advocate the company’s positions on a multitude of policy issues.
• Lead a team across EMEA and foster a proactive & commercially-minded team culture.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide assessment of strategic/policy issues and their implications to SHEIN’s commercial interests in EMEA.
• Provide recommendations to SHEIN’s senior management and relevant business units concerning political, policy and regulatory issues.
• Identify and engage key policy stakeholders (including political office holders, government officials, regulators, international organizations, non-governmental organizations and industry associations).
• Develop and drive engagement strategies to reach out and build strategic relationships with key stakeholders to strengthen SHEIN’s network of partners.
• Formulate and execute advocacy plans to translate policy engagements into tangible commercial outcomes to secure SHEIN’s market access and expansion efforts and to ensure the successful running of SHEIN’s business operations in EMEA.
• Organize and manage meetings with external parties, including the preparation of briefing notes/presentations for senior management’s reference.
• Lead in the planning, organization and management of networking platforms.
• Lead a team across EMEA and foster a proactive & commercially-minded team culture.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in International Relations, Political Science, Global Studies, Law, Economics, Communications or related field. At least 15 years of working experience in government relations or public policy.
• Strong political, policy and regulatory network in across the EU, particularly in Brussels, with a demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at the highest corporate/political levels to undertake advocacy work.
• Experience in policy research, development and analysis.
• Track record of effectively solving complex issues and delivering strong results while maintaining the highest standards.
• Keen interest to translate policy/regulatory engagements into tangible commercial outcomes.
• Willingness to travel across EMEA.
• Strong analytical, presentation (written and oral) and project management skills.
• Strong proficiency in English and French/German.
