Our client is a data centre operator with a large and growing footprint across Asia, North America and Europe. They are expanding rapidly into AI and HPC infrastructure, and power has become their most important strategic capability.
About the Role
The company is establishing a global power infrastructurefunction and is hiring the person to lead it. You will be the in-house gridauthority: securing capacity for new sites, leading engagement with utilitiesand regulators across multiple countries, challenging connection timelines andcosts, and setting the power engineering standards every site is built to. Youwill advise senior leadership directly on where to invest and where not to.
This starts as a senior individual-contributor seat with a mandate to build the function and grow a team as the portfolio expands.
What You'll Do
- Own the global power infrastructure strategy and roadmap.
- Lead utility, transmission and regulatory engagement to secure grid access and interconnection for new sites.
- Direct capacity assessments, network impact studies and connection agreements; know when a utility's answer can be improved.
- Support site selection with power availability and infrastructure feasibility.
- Provide technical leadership on substations, transmission planning and interconnection design.
- Set global power engineering standards and frameworks across all sites.
- Advise senior leadership on power investments, engineering decisions and emerging technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering. Master's or PhD an advantage.
- 10+ years in electrical power systems engineering.
- Transmission or sub-transmission experience at 66kV and above: substation, protection, network planning or grid studies.
- Direct track record of grid connection or interconnection for large loads or generation, including engagement with a utility and/or regulator. In Singapore this means EMA, SP PowerAssets or SP PowerGrid; equivalent overseas experience is equally valued.
- Senior scope: has led a function, a team, or a multi-site or major-programme portfolio.
- Currently working in power or grid engineering.
Good to Have
- Power system study tools: ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS/E or PSCAD.
- Data centre or large industrial load electrical architecture: MV/LV distribution, redundancy, UPS, standby generation.
- Professional Engineer (PE / P.Eng) or chartered status.
- Experience across more than one country's grid or regulatory regime.
- On-site generation, BESS or renewable PPA exposure.
