Job summary

MTC Consulting Pte Ltd in Singapore seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineering Lead to drive concept development and mechanical design for ultra-fast, high-tech facilities such as semiconductor, data centre and cleanroom environments.

You will coordinate across MEP/CSA interfaces, lead multidisciplinary teams, engage with clients, review P&IDs, and mentor staff while travelling as required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master's/PE advantageous.
• 20+ years design/construction experience in high-tech environments.
• 10+ years in senior/leadership role on fast-track projects.
• Strong cross-discipline coordination and stakeholder communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead concept development and mechanical design for large, fast-track projects in high-tech facilities.
• Lead front-end business development, proposals, tenders and value engineering.
• Develop and review conceptual mechanical solutions: HVAC, cleanroom, process exhaust, water systems, vacuum, fire protection, heat recovery.
• Provide technical oversight across MEP/CSA interfaces and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
• Review system concepts, equipment selection, routing, space allocation, P&IDs, layouts; attend client meetings.

Job description

• Lead concept development and Mechanical design for large and complex, fast-track projects within high-tech / advanced technology facilities, including semiconductor, photovoltaic, battery and flat panel display environments.
• Lead and support front-end business development, concept design, technical proposals, tenders and value engineering activities for major projects.
• Develop and review conceptual Mechanical solutions covering systems such as HVAC, cleanroom make-up air and air recirculation, process exhaust, chilled and hot water, process cooling water, compressed dry air, vacuum, fire protection and heat recovery.
• Provide broad technical oversight across MEP and CSA disciplines, ensuring effective coordination and communication between Mechanical, Electrical, Civil & Structural, Architectural, Process and other engineering teams.
• Review system concepts including redundancy, equipment selection, distribution and routing, space allocation, system schematics, P&IDs, layouts and elevations.
• Attend client meetings, present design solutions and act as a senior technical focal point for Mechanical engineering during internal and external design reviews.
• Identify and develop value-engineering opportunities, balancing technical requirements, constructability, programme and client budget expectations.
• Support estimating teams with bill of materials, package definitions, technical scope development and cost inputs during programming, conceptual design and tender stages.
• Review and advise on Mechanical design documentation across programming, concept, detailed and construction design stages.
• Provide technical support to project teams during construction, testing, commissioning and handover, with testing & commissioning experience being advantageous.
• Work with global engineering teams and subject matter experts to develop best practices, alternative methodologies, standard designs and future technologies.
• Support the development of off-site / modular manufacturing solutions and their integration into project concept design.
• Lead, coach and mentor engineering staff, while driving quality, continuous improvement and robust engineering processes.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master's / Professional Engineer qualification is advantageous.
• 20+ years of design and construction experience, preferably in high-tech, semiconductor, data centre, pharmaceutical or other complex industrial environments.
• 10+ years in a senior/leadership role on fast-track projects.
• Strong understanding of Mechanical/MEP, Electrical and CSA interfaces; candidates do not need to be specialists in every discipline but must be able to communicate effectively with multidisciplinary stakeholders.
• Strong experience in conceptual design, design development, value engineering and technical coordination.
• Proven experience managing and mentoring multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
• Testing & commissioning experience is advantageous.
• Willingness to work with regional/global teams and travel when required.
