Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Director to lead the company's overall business development, strategic planning and International commercial activities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, securing funding and investment, managing import and export activities with Chinese suppliers, and providing business consultancy and networking support to clients across Southeast Asia.

Key Responsibilities
1. Business Management & Strategic Development
  • Develop and implement the company's business strategies, expansion plans and commercial objectives.
  • Oversee the company's day-to-day business operations and strategic projects.
  • Identify new markets, business opportunities and potential strategic partnerships.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with corporate clients, business partners and industry stakeholders.
  • Represent the company in business meetings, networking events and commercial engagements.
2. Investment, Funding & Financial Development
  • Identify, approach and develop relationships with potential investors and funding partners to support the company's business expansion.
  • Develop investment proposals, business plans, financial presentations and commercial proposals for prospective investors.
  • Actively seek and secure suitable sources of funding and investment for the company's operations and expansion.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that the company has adequate financial resources to commence and sustain its business activities.
  • Where agreed with the Company and subject to applicable laws and corporate arrangements, contribute or arrange the necessary funding required for the company's business operations, including applicable registration, licensing, professional, administrative and other operating fees.
  • Ensure that necessary company expenses and business-related fees are properly planned and funded.
  • Explore opportunities for joint ventures, strategic alliances and cross-border business collaborations.
  • Monitor the company's financial requirements and work with the relevant professional advisers to support proper financial planning.
3. Import & Export / Wholesale Trading
  • Develop and manage relationships with Chinese manufacturers, suppliers and trading partners.
  • Liaise with Chinese suppliers regarding product sourcing, pricing, purchase arrangements and delivery requirements.
  • Coordinate import and export activities between China, Singapore and other Southeast Asian markets.
  • Negotiate commercial terms with suppliers and business partners.
4. Business Consultancy
  • Provide business consultancy and strategic advice to clients from Singapore and Southeast Asia.
  • Assist clients in identifying potential business opportunities, suppliers, distributors and strategic partners.
  • Provide guidance on market entry, business development and cross-border commercial opportunities.
  • Conduct business discussions and consultations based on clients' commercial objectives.
5. Networking & Client Development
  • Organise and conduct business networking sessions, business introductions and meetings.
  • Facilitate introductions between Southeast Asian clients, Chinese suppliers, investors and potential business partners.
  • Develop and maintain a strong network of business contacts in Singapore, China and Southeast Asia.
  • Identify potential business leads and convert networking opportunities into commercial engagements.
6. Leadership & Corporate Management
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to the company.
  • Develop business plans, budgets and performance objectives.
  • Lead negotiations and major commercial discussions on behalf of the company.
  • Undertake other duties and responsibilities related to the company's business activities as assigned by the Board.
Job Requirements
  • A related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in business management, business development, international trade, import/export, investment development or business consultancy.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing business relationships and strategic partnerships.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and secure business funding, investment or financial resources for commercial projects.
  • Experience in China-Singapore or China-Southeast Asia trade and business activities will be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of International trading and wholesale business operations.
  • Experience liaising and negotiating with Chinese suppliers and overseas business partners.
  • Strong business networking and relationship-management capabilities.
  • Experience in investment development, fundraising or working with investors will be an advantage.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English and Mandarin to liaise with Chinese-speaking suppliers, investors and business partners.
  • Strong analytical, strategic planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to independently develop business opportunities and make decisions in a senior management capacity.
