Job summary

Percept Solutions in Singapore is seeking a Data Centre Operator to support backup operations, rack management, and incident handling within a modern DC environment. You will prepare off-site tapes, monitor backups, perform hardware maintenance and assist with documentation and audits.

The role requires 2 years IT experience, familiarity with Windows NT and Sun Solaris, basic networking, and backup/tape library skills. Prior DC exposure is preferred.

Qualifications

• Working experience within a Data Centre environment preferred.
• Windows NT and Sun Solaris skill set.
• Basic Networking experience preferred.
• Backup administration/Tape Library management skill set.
• 2 years working in an IT environment.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of off-site tapes based on standard SOP.
• Monitoring of daily backup jobs based on standard SOP.
• Manual changing of tapes for customers who had subscript to this services.
• Remote hand support for our partners/customers (rebooting of servers or network equipment’s).
• Managing of all visitors visit within the DC.
• Managing of keys to all racks within the DC.
• Liaising with vendors/partners on customers issues.
• Preparation of new rack or private vault for new customer.
• Monitoring of incoming mails and response if within the job scope.
• Answering of incoming calls and response if within the job scope.
• Assist to maintenance and update all the necessary documentation.
• Assist to cover level 1 engineer duties.
• Detailed knowhow about Copper Cablings of DC.
• Detailed Knowhow about fiber cable types, connectors, use etc.
• Working experience of Patch Panel distributions.
• Testing of cables as appropriate.
• Basic knowhow in MS office.
• Any other ad-hoc work related to DC operations.
• Maintain rack allocation and data center process and procedures. Support Audit activities
• Oversee environmental conditions to ensure power requirements; power distribution, HVAC are operating within guidelines.
• Maintain inventory and labelling of equipment and removal decommissioned hardware.
• Oversee, or perform, daily, weekly and monthly inspections of infrastructure supporting data center operations.
• Report to management all data center and computing facility incidents.
• Support the company’s commitment to protect the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.
