Job summary

HANSON CARRIERS PTE. LTD. is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager for our Singapore office to drive growth in the dry bulk and general cargo sectors.

The role focuses on developing partnerships with shipowners, charterers and industry partners while shaping the company’s commercial strategy. You will identify new business opportunities, negotiate chartering agreements and monitor market trends to support informed decision-making.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Shipping, Maritime Studies, Business, Logistics or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in shipping, chartering or commercial business development.
• Strong knowledge of dry bulk and/or general cargo markets; strong negotiation skills.
• Willingness to travel; fluent English; knowledge of other Asian languages would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain business relationships with shipowners, charterers, cargo interests and other industry partners.
• Identify and develop new business opportunities in dry bulk and general cargo markets.
• Manage and negotiate commercial and chartering arrangements.
• Monitor market trends, freight rates, cargo flows and competitive activities to support business decisions.
• Coordinate with internal teams and overseas offices to develop suitable shipping solutions and maximize commercial opportunities.
• Prepare commercial proposals, market analysis and business reports.
• Follow up on existing accounts and ensure effective customer relationship management.
• Support the company's business development and long-term commercial strategy.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Shipping, Maritime Studies, Business, Logistics or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in shipping, chartering, ship broking or commercial business development.
• Strong knowledge of the dry bulk and/or general cargo shipping market.
• Good commercial, negotiation and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work independently and manage multiple commercial activities.
• Willingness to travel when required.
• Proficiency in English; knowledge of other Asian languages would be an advantage.
